After another playoff run the Eagles were poised and ready to succeed in 2019. A healthy Carson Wentz ensured at least a chance at the playoffs in the weak NFC East. But yet again, 12 weeks in they were strugling having just lost to the Miami Dolphins to fall to 5-7. Luckily they still had a chance, they needed to win the final 4 games of the season against 4 NFC East opponents. Many people had started to wonder about the coaching because Wentz was playing solid but the only way we would win games and get big plays was if Wentz played Brett Favre style hero ball. But alas the Birds pulled it off, taking the final four games to win the NFC East. They were set up for a home playoff game with the Seattle Seahawks who had already beat them 17-9 during the season. Injuries can’t escape Wentz though, he was cheapshotted in the back of the head and it knocked him out of the game bringing in 40 year old backup Josh McCown, who then tore his hamstring and played through it to the end of the game. We ended up losing by the same score as the previous meeting. Many people started to call Wentz injury prone and the fact that he had gotten injured and a backup had to come in at crucial times in the season created a solid argument for the Wentz haters. Then inexplicably they took Jalen Reagor instead of Justin Jefferson in the draft. Jefferson was a pro bowler as a rookie and Reagor has been through an injury riddled year, however he did show flashes of being a good player. Then in the second round the Eagles took Jalen Hurts, a quarterback out of Oklahoma. This was a very questionable pick and this surely hurt Jalen Hurts confidence. Part 3 coming soon.
