Doug Pederson Pt. 3: This Season

The third part of this series about Doug Pederson will be about this season and the future of this team. This season has been by no means a success. Pederson has had his first losing record since his first year. The Birds are 4-10-1 going into the final game of the season, after ruling out basically everyone who could have an effect on the game they seem to be looking to tank. They have a possibility of getting the third overall pick in this year’s draft. More realistically they would pick somewhere in the ballpark of the fifth to eighth overall pick. A report came out this morning that has since been disputed by the Eagles and multiple reporters. Carson Wentz supposedly is going to ask for a trade because the relationship with Doug Pederson is broken beyond repair. If this is the case they must trade him relatively quickly as his salary will become guaranteed for the next two seasons on the second day of the offseason. I am not even sure if any team will take on such a salary what team would want Wentz after his abysmal play this season. The other issue is the question of if Jalen Hurts is the answer at quarterback. I am not sure I can commit to someone who has played only a handful of games. Don’t get me wrong he has played great but shown he is prone to turnovers and has struggled recently especially in the second half against the Cowboys. I can’t believe I even have to cover this but there might be a possibilyu of Howie Roseman taking a quarterback in this draft. One of the better quarterback draft classes in recent memory, someone like Mac Jones or Justin Fields may be available when the Eagles pick. Either way this roster is broken and it may take multiple years to rebuild. I think that rebuilding needs to start with a cleanhouse, Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman must go. They have damaged this team with their playcalling and drafting respectively. It will be sad to see Wentz go and it seems that Ertz may go as well. It will be the end of an era as I don’t expect to see Alshon Jeffery or Desean Jackson back next season as well. Thanks for reading.
