Adrian Beltre: A great career

Adrian Beltre played for the Dodgers, Mariners, Red Sox, and Rangers over a 21 year career. He hit .286/.339/.480 with 477 homers, 1707 RBI’s, 1524 runs scored, and 121 stolen bases. When he was called up with the Dodgers in 1998 he was a very promising prospect. But for the first 5 seasons of his career with regular playing time Beltre was not very good. Hitting only .265/.323/.432 averaging 21 homes and 82 RBI’s and 12 stolen bases. The thing that kept Beltre playing with this kind of offense was his outstanding defense. He was otherworldly at third base and that made him worth playing.

Then in 2004 it all came together, he hit .334/.388/.629 with 48 homers and 121 RBIs with 104 runs scored and 200 hits. He won a silver slugger and came second in the MVP race and at 25 years old he was poised to become a young star in the game. The Mariners signed Beltre to a 5 year contract expecting 2004 Beltre. That got more of an early career Beltre. In those 5 years with Seattle he hit .266/.317/.442 averaging 24 homers and 92 RBI’s per full season. I

n the 2010 offseason Beltre signed for Boston on a “prove it” deal and he was outstanding. He combined his great defense with and uncanny ability to ping doubles off the Green Monster, he led the league with 49 and he hit .321/.365/.553. He played in his first all star game and got a decent amount of MVP votes finishing 9th. In the offseason he signed with the Rangers and he played the last seven years of his career their. Forming a formidable left side of the infield with Elvis Andrus. He hit .304/.357/.509 averaging 30 homers and 104 RBI’s per full season. He was one of the most lovable guys in the MLB. He played pranks, hit bombs on one knee and was a great player. You can’t not love Adrian Beltre. Thanks for reading.
