Worst 11-0 team in History: The Pittsburgh Steelers

When a team is 11-0 you would assume that team is pretty good right? Well this year the Steelers started 11-0. They were looking great and seemed to be poised for a deep playoff run. Since then they have gone 0-3, even losing to the lowly Bengals. Who have the worst O-line in the league and are being led by backup quarterback Ryan Finley. They were held to 17 points and there is one basic reason for this. They can’t run the ball. Even in this extremely pass heavy league running the ball can be vital to a team’s success. James Connor who has been a solid running back since Le’veon Bell left town, was hit with a COVID-19 bout and has not been the same, to the dismay of my fantasy team. Benny Snell has played in his place recently and has shown why he is the backup. During the 11 game win streak the Steelers relied on short passes and occasional deep shots, the ball was out of Big Ben’s hands quickly almost every play. As their inability to run the ball has cost them any real play action, they have had to turn to some more long passes, and more long passes equals Big Ben getting regularly hit. They have also been terrible at catching the ball lately. Diontae Johnson and Eric Ebron being at the forefront of their dropped pass problem. Juju Smith-Schuster’s pregame antics of dancing on team’s  logos and posting it on TikTok wasn’t an issue when they were rolling teams over and over again but when they lose to the Bengals it sure becomes a problem. I predict a 1-1 final two games for the Steelers, but the way they have been playing I could see it getting worse. I expect them to get swept out of the playoffs quite easily by whoever they play, and the fans will be left wondering what went wrong. The Steelers are by no means a bad team but recently they have shown that they were not a perfect team and a perfect record doesn’t determine the level of the team. Thanks for reading.
