Fernando Tatis Jr: The face of baseball

Earlier this week Fernando Tatis Jr. was playing in a game for the San Diego Padres and his team was winning by 7 runs. The pitcher for the Texas Rangers had ran the count up 3-0 and then threw a decent pitch in the strike zone. Tatis tattooed it to deep right field. The bases were loaded and this was heavily frowned upon not only that he hit a dinger but that he even swung at all. Old baseball people seem to think that you shouldn’t be running up the score especially with a 3-0 count.

In my opinion it is in the best interest of the baseball community to let him swing away there. Young stars like Tatis help bring fans into baseball. The fact that Tatis had to apologize in front of the media is pretty stupid to me. It seems that the MLB seem to care more about people “running up the score” and making faces at opposing teams then suspending cheaters. In my opinion MLB may need a change in leadership.
